When I start a project I always begin with a singular focus. The materials, techniques, and styles are built around it in a complementary fashion. For example, when I started the plaster hand project I knew I wanted to create a bear. One spark of inspiration led to another and next I thought, "Hey, wouldn't look cooler if the hand was shaped like a fist?" so then the rest of the piece become focused around evoking anger. During the creative process I try to create an avalanche of ideas and organize them in a such a way that they all fall into one cohesive place.
For the past couple years I've routinely drawn and created various types of artwork but only recently did I ever create any original pieces. Over time, I've been moving away from inspired works or fan art and having my own ideas. Most of the artist that I take influence from are display many of their works on Twitter, such as Chris Niosi, Emilio Lopez, Peter Chan, and Lee Petty. I have grown much more familiar with creating forms and shapes for art, but I still need to improve my knowledge of color and familiarize myself with the quirks of choosing a color pallette. I hope to continue to learn and grow as an artist so that I can express my thoughts in a universal way.
